IN THE CLASSROOM

The benefits of debate in the classroom setting are immense. Debate involves constantly reading complicated passages, improving reading comprehension. Thus, debaters see over a 100 point increase in English SAT scores, on average. Additionally, participants in debate see a staggering improvement in critical thinking skills, which translates to a 60% increase in the chance of admission to a "top-tier" college.

IN THE WORKPLACE

Fear of social interactions, or glossophobia, affects 75% of adults. The ability to speak effectively and persuasively can provide a huge advantage in the workplace. Some of the most successful people, including co-founder and CEO of Pinterest have described Speech and Debate as the single most important extracurricular they took up in high school.
